Originally tasked with installing a landscape plan designed by a local landscape architect, our role quickly evolved as the homeowner introduced new ideas mid-project. Collaborating closely with the builder and homeowner, our masons and landscape crews transformed this 12-acre waterfront property into a breathtaking estate. Our work included managing masonry sub-contractors, implementing irrigation and drainage systems, and handling extensive plantings and turf installation. A standout achievement for our team was the successful transplant of a 24-inch caliper Willow Oak from our nursery to the home’s front entry, creating a grand and lasting impression.
Elegant Driveway Design – A generous cobblestone curb and gutter line the gently curving driveway, creating a serene approach to the residence. Set in mortar atop concrete, this design minimizes annual maintenance caused by freeze-thaw cycles and occasional mishaps by distracted drivers.
A Majestic Welcome – The newly transplanted Willow Oak, installed during the early phases of construction, graces the left side of the driveway, captured here at sunset as the house nears completion.
Timeless Arrival Court – In this near-complete view, the driveway transitions to the arrival court, accented by granite cobble curbs. Relocated mature English boxwoods soften the hardscape and lend a timeless elegance to the home’s entrance.
Riverside Retreat – A casual seating area along the Potomac River offers a peaceful spot to relax and take in the waterfront views.
Intimate Outdoor Space – Looking toward the back of the house, the intimate riverside seating area provides a tranquil escape.
Enhanced Patio Design – To complement the builder’s patio overlooking the river, our masons crafted a custom fireplace and seat wall, creating a cozy outdoor gathering space.
Formal Garden Views – This view from the formal gardens offers a stunning perspective looking back toward the house.
Terrace & Gardens – From the renovated brick terrace, the complexity and beauty of the gardens come into focus. Careful soil preparation was key to ensuring the long-term health of the plantings.
Seasonal Color – Perovskia, Knockout Roses, and Limelight Hydrangeas provide vibrant summer color, contrasting with the structured boxwood hedges.
Hydrangea Showcase – Approaching one of the estate’s gazebos, visitors are greeted by a dramatic hedge of hydrangeas, creating a striking focal point.
Autumn in Bloom – Two months later, the gardens burst with early autumn color from Aster, Solidago, Perovskia, and Knockout Roses, offering a seasonal transformation.
