Our Mission
We aim to provide outstanding quality, value, and service through an integrated design-build philosophy. Every landscape we create is intended to enhance the homes and communities we serve while reflecting the highest standards of craftsmanship. We are equally committed to fostering a supportive workplace where our team can continue to grow and succeed.
About McHale
Since 1981, McHale has helped homeowners transform their properties through landscape architecture, horticultural expertise, and skilled craftsmanship. Every project is uniquely designed to complement your home’s architecture, surrounding environment, and the way you enjoy your outdoor spaces.
McHale manages every stage of your project under one single roof. With registered landscape architects, licensed professionals, in-house carpentry and masonry teams, multiple design studios, and a privately owned 35-acre nursery, you can expect a seamless experience, exceptional quality, and long-term accountability from concept through maintenance.
Our History
McHale was founded in 1981 by Kevin and Steve McHale, whose passion for landscaping began at just 12 years old while mowing neighborhood lawns. Inspired by a love for working outdoors and the values of hard work and financial responsibility instilled by their parents, they launched the company while attending West Virginia University. In the beginning, they relied on little more than a Datsun pickup truck, a wheelbarrow, and two shovels.
As the company grew, its greatest strength became its people. McHale’s first employee, Phil Kelly, remains with the company today as Chief Operating Officer and has played a pivotal role in its continued growth. More than four decades, thousands of completed landscapes, and 450+ award-winning projects later, McHale continues to build on the same principles that brought us where we are: trust and creating clients for life through exceptional residential landscapes.
