Proteger la bah\u00eda de Chesapeake y preservar su ecosistema acu\u00e1tico natural es un objetivo permanente para quienes viven y trabajan cerca de Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

Como profesionales preocupados por la conservaci\u00f3n, McHale Landscape Design debe anticiparse a todos y cada uno de los efectos medioambientales en las zonas cr\u00edticas de Maryland para garantizar que nuestros m\u00faltiples proyectos cerca de la bah\u00eda o de la costa este cumplan y superen todas las normativas y mejores pr\u00e1cticas. McHale tuvo recientemente la oportunidad de demostrar su val\u00eda como guardi\u00e1n de la cuenca hidrogr\u00e1fica de la bah\u00eda de Chesapeake cuando nuestro equipo particip\u00f3 en un proyecto de control de la erosi\u00f3n del agua en las instalaciones de nuestra oficina principal.<\/p>\n

Dos oportunidades preexistentes hicieron posible y necesario el proyecto: la escorrent\u00eda controlada de nuestra propiedad a una entrada de drenaje existente (contaminaci\u00f3n de fuente no puntual) y la escorrent\u00eda incontrolada de una propiedad vecina (fuente puntual).<\/p>\n

Anteriormente, nuestras aguas de escorrent\u00eda se conten\u00edan y mitigaban mediante una cuneta revestida de grava que eliminaba los s\u00f3lidos en suspensi\u00f3n antes de llegar al desag\u00fce pluvial. Sin embargo, la planificaci\u00f3n de un nuevo aparcamiento para ampliar nuestra flota impuls\u00f3 la mejora de nuestras medidas de gesti\u00f3n de las aguas pluviales y la creaci\u00f3n de un espacio funcional, educativo y bello.<\/p>\n

\"Stormwater2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

La escorrent\u00eda del vecino adyacente tambi\u00e9n era grave. Se bombeaban directamente a nuestra propiedad y hab\u00edan empezado a afectar a las propiedades situadas debajo de nosotros. Para ser respetuosos con los vecinos y con el medio ambiente, dise\u00f1amos un plan de gesti\u00f3n de las aguas pluviales que redujera la escorrent\u00eda mediante captaci\u00f3n, filtraci\u00f3n y un sistema de transporte est\u00e9ticamente agradable.<\/p>\n

Para controlar la escorrent\u00eda de nuestro vecino, el equipo de McHale instal\u00f3 un estanque de captaci\u00f3n en la parte superior del sistema con capacidad suficiente para una tormenta de 1\u2033. En caso de que haya m\u00e1s agua, los desag\u00fces fluir\u00e1n hacia el resto del sistema y proporcionar\u00e1n una conducci\u00f3n estabilizada durante una tormenta mayor.<\/p>\n

Para mitigar la escorrent\u00eda de nuestra propiedad a la entrada de drenaje existente, pusimos en marcha zonas de amortiguaci\u00f3n plantadas y un sistema de conducci\u00f3n de piscina escalonada. Este sistema tambi\u00e9n estaba dimensionado para una tormenta de 1\" e incorporaba plantas para estabilizar y filtrar la escorrent\u00eda. En las cunetas y estanques se plantaron especies aut\u00f3ctonas amantes del agua y visualmente atractivas, como abedul de r\u00edo, cipr\u00e9s calvo, lirio, clethra e itea.<\/p>\n

Ahora se retiene m\u00e1s agua en el emplazamiento principal de McHale, mientras que el agua que sale de la propiedad es mucho, mucho m\u00e1s limpia. Nuestros esfuerzos aumentaron la calidad del agua al tiempo que redujeron la cantidad de escorrent\u00eda y eliminaron los problemas aguas abajo.<\/p>\n
